The Anti-Snoring Pillow Works When Used Properly
Snoring is a condition that not only prevents the offending party from getting a good night’s sleep but also (in more cases then not), the person on the other side of the bed as well. (i.e., the spouse, a roommate, or other family members) Snoring usually affects the relationships of the individual who snores and the individual(s) on the receiving end. There are a few remedies out there that are said to help one get a more restful night’s sleep. One of the more popular aids out there is called anti snoring pillow.
The design of this pillow should aid in proper alignment of the airway. Some snoring can be caused by air vibrating as it passes through the restricted airway. By allowing the airway to remain open reduces these vibrations. By keeping the chin elevated from the chest area, the spine aligned properly and the jaw forward while sleeping is said to help with keeping the airway open. The anti-snoring pillow was created to allow for a better sleep position.
An easy way to reduce, maybe eliminate your snoring would be to sleep on your side. Many of these anti-snoring pillows are placed behind the back so that you can sleep on your side. Where the pillow is placed should prevent you from sleeping on your back which could once again, restrict the airway. There are some pillows that can assist with side sleeping. They are created with an angle and should be placed between your thighs which encourages proper alignment with the spine. This will also reduce any airway restriction issues.
There are other pillows out there that are specifically designed for both side or back sleeping. Typically these pillows have a higher center section and a lower surrounding section. This section was designed to keep the jaw forward, the head and neck in proper alignment with the spine and the chin raised off of the chest. Materials are important as most anti-snoring pillows are created using foam which tends to hold shape better then synthetic or natural down materials. The foam also helps make the pillow stay in place better in the hopes the correct sleeping position is maintained throughout the night.
However, in the quest to stop snoring, the offender should not have to sacrifice a good night’s sleep. There are plenty of choices when it comes to choosing the right anti-snoring pillow. With so many different varieties to chose from, it is highly unlikely you will be unable to find one that suits your needs. The ideal pillow should be both comfortable and it should also reduce your snoring enough so that everyone can get a good night’s sleep.
